Last chance

Every month a local artist is invited to sell their handmade objects in The Little Shop. Artists donate a percentage of their proceeds to Saint Philip’s.

Pop in the store each week before or after worship services to see what gifts you find—for yourself or others.

Fiber Creations by Linda Dewey are February’s feature.

A bit about Linda
Linda creates art pieces using the age-old technique of felting. She delights in the interplay of texture and color, so has chosen wool and silk fibers as her artistic medium. Linda is fascinated by the way that wool becomes felt and felt becomes art in her hands. She makes wearable art that adds a spark of radiance to an outfit and decorative pieces that have a touch of whimsy.

Linda uses traditional wet-felting, nuno- (felting into silk) and needle felting techniques to make wall art, scarves, necklaces, birdhouses, and more. Lately, she has added knitting, shibori dying, and frame weaving to her repertoire. Every piece is unique.

Early on Linda was an avid sewer, sometime knitter and embroiderer, so she’s always been attracted to fiber. Her career took her into the business world. Now retired, however, she’s delighted to have the time to devote to fiber arts.

Linda is a member of the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild and shows her work at the Cactus Wren Gallery in Tubac, AZ. Commissions are welcome. Learn more by visiting Linda’s facebook page: LindasFiberCreations.
