Christian formation

October’s theme
As the solemn requiem of All Souls’ Day on Thursday, November 2 approaches, the focus of forums on Sundays and Wednesday Mosaics will be what the Church believes about Christian death and burial—and how they shape our lives.

The resource for this series will be the Burial Rite from The Book of Common Prayer. Special attention will be paid to the six words or phrases from the Burial Rite—what is their meaning to Episcopalians and how do they unite us with all Christians?

The series will also incorporate a practical aspect: the importance of planning our own funerals.

Wednesday, October 11—Earthly Pilgrimage
Sunday, October 15—Rest Eternal
Wednesday, October 18—Commendation
Sunday, October 22—Into paradise
Wednesday, October 25—Absolution
Sunday, October 29—Committal

Dinner at Mosaic

The meal at 6:00pm is possible because of generous volunteers who shop for the food and arrive early to prepare it. They craft dinners to feed 30-50 people on a very tight budget and say they find inspiration from the miracle of the fishes and the loaves.

It will help the volunteers enormously if you RSVP for dinner this coming Wednesday, October 11.

What is Mosaic?
Mosaic is a weekly gathering on Wednesdays for fellowship, formation, and prayer. The community is made up of people from different backgrounds but everyone shares an interest in nourishing their relationship with God. It’s a wonderful way to meet people involved in different ministries at Saint Philip’s and learn about ways to be of service.

You are invited to participate in all events or just one:

5:15pm Worship service in the church
6:00pm Dinner in the Murphey Gallery
6:30pm Formation in the Murphey Gallery
