Goal surpassed

Beloved in the Desert is part of the Episcopal Service Corps with the mission of forming an intentional community for young adults that fosters beloved Christian disciples through service, study, and prayer in the Tucson borderlands. For more information click here.

The goal for the recent fund-raiser auction was to raise $15,000 for the future of the program. With the generous support received from people at Saint Philip’s—as well as across the country—that goal was surpassed and $16,292 was raised!

The young adults who have participated in this program since its founding in 2019 have volunteered over 15,000 hours of service to local non-profits. This translates into a community impact of nearly $500,000. Donors’ support of Beloved in the Desert is a real investment in both the Tucson community and the corp members.

It hasn’t been an easy time to participate. The program began shortly before the pandemic and through the trials and tribulations since 2020 the young adults moved to Tucson, lived simply, served at local non-profits, prayed together, studied, sought justice, and lived in community.

The financial and emotional support the corps members receive from the Saint Philip’s community has a transformative impact on them, as well as the future of the program.

In great gratitude,

—Rev’d Taylor Devine, Program Director (and on behalf of the Beloved in the Desert Advisory Board)

If you would like to support Beloved in the Desert with a recurring gift that is possible at stphilipstucson.org/givenow. If you are interested in making a donation that would have a significant impact on an under-resourced organization, you can support a half-time Partner Placement Fee ($7,500) or a full-time Partner Placement Fee ($15,000).

Your generosity has an immediate impact on recruitment of Corps members, the expansion of capacity for our partner organizations, and on the kinds of support and training that Saint Philip’s can offer young adults who are formed through Beloved in the Desert to be leaders in faith and justice. Thank you!
