Last Lenten forum

The last forum in this series will be held at 10:15am this Sunday, April 3, in the Murphey Gallery. It will be led by scholar and art historian, Kevin Justus.

Kevin and previous presenters (Saint Philip’s Rector, Fr Robert Hendrickson; parochial vicar, Fr Peter Helman; former Rector, Fr John Kitagawa; retreat leader and parishioner, Shirin McArthur) will discuss plans for the upcoming pilgrimage which has been scheduled for November 7-18, 2022.

Meeting Jesus in these troubling times feels more needed than ever. Journeying to the center of our faith, making our way in community, and gathering after so much time apart because of the pandemic is a theme in this Sunday forum series.

During Lent, we make our metaphorical way toward Jerusalem. Lent is the journey to the cross and to the glory of Easter day. The Holy Land is the place where this all unfolded. A pilgrimage is not about studying what once was. A pilgrimage is about rediscovering what still is: the living Christ in prayers, people, and places.

These forums offer an opportunity to learn more, prayerfully consider this opportunity, and hear a bit about how the Holy Land continues to shape the faith and imagination of pilgrims worldwide as it has for two millennia.
