A thank you to Chris Campbell

Chris Campbell has been with St. Philip’s since May serving as our summer intern, an 11 week partnership with St. John’s College, Santa Fe, where he studies liberal arts, philosophy, the history of mathematics and science, classical studies, and comparative literature.

During these many weeks he has faithfully engaged a host ministry areas—officiating Morning Prayer, leading Bible study, contributing to Daily Bread, assisting the Murphey Gallery Committee with their fall online exhibit “The Way of Love,” helping publish weekly editions of St. Philip’s online journal of parish life Bell & Tower (as well as a three-part written B&T series called “On the Evolution of Our Contemporary State: How Contemporary Events Have Amplified Our Metamodern State“), providing technical support for the website redesign and online worship, among other things.

All of this has been an opportunity for him to learn the ins and out of parochial ministry as he further discerns a call to priesthood in The Episcopal Church.

Chris was “contractually” obligated to spend 20 hours per week on his work with the parish. Most weeks he was at 40 or more. His joy and willingness to help with anything that needed doing were a huge gift — especially in this strange time when so much of what we were doing was new.

I hope you will thank him when you have the chance — we’ve been so fortunate to have him with us and wish him well in his studies and in his discernment!
