Triduum and Easter 2017

If you are looking for a community with which to observe Holy Week and celebrate Easter, you are more than welcome at Saint Philip’s. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions about our service offerings.

Maundy Thursday
8:30am – Morning Prayer Rite I
7:00pm – Liturgy for Maundy Thursday – Footwashing, Eucharist, Stripping of the Altar. Vigil will be kept in the chapel from the end of the liturgy on Thursday night until the beginning of the Good Friday liturgy at noon the following day. Sermon by the Rector.

Good Friday

12:00pm – Liturgy for Good Friday – Sung Passion Gospel, Solemn collects, Veneration of the Cross, Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. Sermon by the Rector.
5:30pm – The Way of the Cross – An interactive experience of Stations of the Cross filled with the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells of Jesus’ last journey. Adults and children alike are invited to this powerful meditation.

Holy Saturday
8:30am – Morning Prayer Rite II
7:00pm – The Great Vigil of Easter, Baptism, and Choral Eucharist, with candlelit procession and incense — chant and music sung by the St. Nicholas Choir and Schola Cantorum. Sermon by the Rector.

Easter Sunday
6:00am – Sunrise Eucharist Rite II. Sermon by the Rector.
7:45am – Holy Eucharist Rite I. Sermon by the Rector.
9:00am Choral Eucharist Rite II and Baptism. Sermon by the Rector.
9:15am – Family Eucharist Rite II and Baptism (in the Children’s Center courtyard, followed by Easter Egg hunt). Sermon by Canon Megan Traquair.
11:15am – Choral Eucharist Rite II. Sermon by the Rector.
4:00pm – “Come and See” Service
5:30pm – Holy Eucharist Rite II
