Thank you to our Outreach Commission for making it possible for St. Philip's to welcome Sara Miles the first weekend of Lent. We have heard from many parishioners who were very inspired by Sara's talks and preaching.

During her time with us, Sara invited each of us into deep reflection about our faith and how each of us is called to respond the needs of a hurting world. Her message spoke to the heart of what it means to join in ministry. Sara spoke to the deeper inspiration and motivation of this vital part of our Christian mission. Sara's talks and sharing have tilled the soil, opening many hearts to listen for how God is calling each of us to new places in faith and service.

"Jesus is real, and so, praise God, are we. Everything Jesus does on earth is through our bodies."

"I came late to Christianity, and discovered the inconvenient truth that a spiritual life is a physical life..."

The days and weeks ahead hold promise for continuing to open conversations with our members as we each discern our response to God. We each might consider remembering the people who we don't usually imagine as active in a ministry that inspires us, especially people who attended Sara's workshop or heard her preach, and invite them to join you in a ministry that stirs your faith and passion. The generous support of Outreach Commission Yes to the Future funds made this meaningful weekend possible.

"It is not simply about welcoming the stranger, but about glorifying the stranger, because they come in and change us."

"The great blessing and the great difficulty of the Christian life are we don't get to have a time when we're NOT Christians." "The building is the place where the Church meets."
