THE NEW INTERPRETER'S BIBLE, Abingdon Press, 2002, Twelve Volumes. (Call no. BS491.2 N484 1994 - Library Use Only)

Thanks to a generous St. Philip's donor our library now has the entire twelve volume set of this remarkable publication. Vol. 6, recently off the press, now completes the set, given in memory of three St. Philippians. Publication has required several years of scholarlydedication. An Index is expected to be published later this year.

The contributing scholars are from many major universities and seminaries of the world: Yale University, Princeton Seminary, University of Chicago, Oxford University and Cambridge University in England, and other distinguished institutions in the U.K., United States and Canada. They are both men and women. The ecumenical roster of scholars includes: Episcopalians, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Roman Catholics and other denominations. This is a magnum opus and a valued addition to St. Philip's Library. THE NEW INTERPRETER'S BIBLE is located on the credenza for use in the library.

Each volume includes two translations of the biblical text, a detailed critical commentary on the text and reflections to serve as "handles" for application of the Scriptures for faith and life today. This set is an important tool for both teachers and students at St. Philip's.
