GIVE US GRACE: An Anthology of Anglican Prayers, compiled by Christopher L. Webber. Morehouse Publishing, 2004. 521 pp. (BV245.G555).

"Anglican Christians are heirs to a rich tradition. No other family of churches has been praying in English as long as the Anglicans, whose prayers have been dominated by the rhythm and beauty of the Book of Common Prayer. Anglicans blend what is best from the Celtic, Orthodox Christian, and Roman Catholic traditions Š" (inside flap). This amazing work spans the ages and the continents to bring under one cover selected riches from prayer books around the world, and from the pens of famous Anglican leaders. There is help in GIVE US GRACE for nearly every human situation, and assistance in offering praise to God.

St. Philip's has many seniors. Those who are young love those who have lived long. For seniors there is this prayer from the Chinese Book of Common Prayer: "Our Father in heaven, you are the source of our lives, and you know the needs of all people: We thank you for all the seniors among us, for their encouragement and all that they have given and done for us. Give us the will and strength to care for them, so that they may gain respect and honor in the remaining days of their lives. Let them be aware of your presence and your love for them Š" (pp 491-492). GIVE US GRACE is in the Robert Renouf Collection.
